Joseph Herald was a German immigrant who operated the Old Fell House through the 1860's. He was (apparently) the third husband of German immigrant Mary Zaum Bancker Herold whose daughter Mary Zaum married Charles Gabel and daughter Louisa Bancker married Theodore Berger.
